Crazy weekend!

The past week has been an amazing week! there were so many things going on and it was fun! On friday, ryan kim came over to our place right after he's touched down from korea. he's from the school as well, but never met him before cus we're different batches. Got t know him on that day, friendly guy, slightly annoying/retarded. HAHAHA!

anyway, kyu went out for dinner and brought zuii back! zuii's from the school as well, but i dont really know her cus we're diff intakes but we know who each other was. everyone started drinking in the house cus they bought drinks when they came to our house. 4 bottles of soju and 1 box of beer. our fridge was like empty prior their visit, but after they came, it was filled with beer ONLY. hahahaha! zuii was supposed to meet shin & co for clubbing at the club right below my apartment, and she persuaded me to go. so after drinking, we got ready tgt to go club.

here comes the funny part. we had heaps of jaggerbomb and everyone was intoxicated, and shin had zuii's phone. shin said she was going home with ashley to change their shoes and come back again. Na, myself and zuii were waiting outside Cheers for shin & ashley to be back but they didn't come back after idk how long. so we called shin and no one answered. we thought she was so drunk she fell asleep on her bed, so i brought the girls home. zuii and i changed into slacks and shin posted on my fb timeline saying she's inside cheers. the next thing we knew, we were going back to cheers IN OUR SLACKS AND SLIPPERS! hahahahahaa! surprisingly, we got in. i think the bouncer knows who we are. lollllll. and everyone in the club were like staring at us in amaze. one guy even talked to me saying "hey u look really sporty" and he went on saying how he is #250 in the world for squash. blaaa blaaa blaaaaa.

after the club ended, everyone came back to my house and made hell lots of noise. finally, everyone except zuii left at 5am and we went to sleep. hahaha.

Next morning, zuii woke me up at 10am. we went out for brunch, some shopping and went home for a swim. god knows why. sudden impulse. hahahah! shin was calling us crazy, fancy swimming with a hangover.

came home, kyu cooked dinner cus emily jin & rachel was paying a visit to our humble little house. had dinner tgt, and zuii wanted to drink again, so the boys went out to buy box wine and beer. i love drinking at home, cus it bonds everyone tgt, and we always have jokes with our drinking games. hahaha. suddenly, emily said she wanted to go club. and she persuaded all the girls to go. ROUND 2 AGAIN!!!! everyone went to my room to dress up, and emily wore my clothes. HAHAHAH! headed down to club, called shin and forced her to come down as well.

After club ended, everyone came to my house (as usual). at this point of time, everyone was drunkkkkk. we drank so many diff mixture of alcohol; wine, beer, jaggerbomb. what happened after this was super hilarious, but i couldn't rmb anything. apparently, after reaching home, everyone except susan went out again to buy some food to eat. we went to this kebab store near shin's place to have some kebab. according to the girls, i was staring at my kebab and saying "kebab is not cooperating with me". the girls burst out laughing while i was talking to my kebab. cus it kept dropping and i was so pissed. hahaha! moments later, i spewed, and i vividly rmb myself saying "oh i can taste and feel the lettuce coming out in my mouth, in a whole piece cause i haven't digested my kebab yet"

okay i know its gross. but i find it really funny. hahaha. shin bought me candy afterwards andddddd something fucking sick happened. okay anw, we went home, got changed and went to bed. which i had no memory of.

i woke up next morning in my PJs, and i asked zuii how did i get into them? she called shin and both of them started filling in the blanks to all my questions. LOL. it was a funny night.

after everything, time for super late lunch. went for sushi & sashimi meal with zuii nearby. yummmmy! great way to cure a hangover. hahaha!

that marks the end of my awesome weekend. everyone has gone home and the house is soooooo quiet now. hahahaha! i wonder if the same thing is going to happen this weekend again.. hmmmm, we shall see. i love my girls!!! heh! :D

this year's CNY feels so different, no bai nian with family, no dressing up and no mandarins. :( but nevertheless, my family didn't forget about me. i got to skype with both sides of family when they were bainian-ing. haha! Netty skyped with me on her phone and showed me how crowded tampines was. wow, so many relatives from my indonesian family came over this year. why come over when im already gone :( and my xiaoshen skyped with me when everyone was at granny's place. so nice to see everyone on CNY. i even wore my red TEAM TEMASEK shirt when i skyped with them. hahahaha!
i miss home!

Although i didn't get to celebrate CNY with my family, i got to have reunion dinner with ms ding and tommy! its a blessing in disguise for me when i heard that pauline has flight to sydney on 21st Jan. I met her in the afternoon for gym session at Hilton Hotel. it was really good,the facilities were top notch and we had a good session. Swimming and sauna session next time when she comes here again. heh.

then went back to our individual homes to shower and get ready. luckily my apartment is just 10mins away from Hilton. Met up at 8pm and headed to chinatown for hotpot! its the closest to steamboat, something most families would eat during reunion dinner (:
settled for sichuan restaurant and went in! food was alrightttttt,not really fantastic but it was passable. we thought of ordering more after we've finished our first round, but we were sooooo full that we couldn't even order anymore. haha. photooooos nao!

after dinner, we decided to head over to Darling Harbour for some fresh air and some night strolling. Came across Guylian cafe and dearest pauline gave us a treat! I've always loved Guylian chocolates, their signature being the shell chocolates, something which my mom adores as well.

back in SG, there wasn't any Guylian cafes, but here in Aus, theres 3 such cafes! & they serve such lovely belgium chocolate treats!

If you were to know me, you'll know that my ultimate weakness is chocolate. i just cant get enough of chocolate or anything related to chocolate. Fell in love immediately with this cafe when i set foot in. :B

we ordered ice chocolate, raspberry belgium hazelnut cheesecake & waffle w their signature icecream (in hazelnut colour). boy was it super nice!

overall, i would rank the ice chocolate #1!

boring days

HOLAAAA!!! so, work has been alright at Intercontinental, but its sooooo damn boring! Im in rooms service dept and duties include delivering food up, housekeeping glasses (collecting dirty glasses at BOH of each level and stock counting at each of the storerooms on each level), and minibar (polishing enough glasses to meet the par level on each floor and sending them up to the BOH storeroom and restocking minibars in late check out guest rooms).

okay, i think none of the above makes any sense to you guys.. ohwelllls. anyway, while working on tuesday, i came across Level 24, and apparently all of the rooms were undergoing maintenance or sth. so here's some photos to show u the insides of intercontinental. haha

i rmb this delivery i made to 2 indian guests.. 2 mini chivas bottle, 2 chivas shot and tonic water. & when i went to their room, they gave me old glasses to bring out.. inside those glasses are 2 full cups of chivas w tonic water. wth man, are they super alcoholic or what.. was so tempted to drink it down, but haha nahhh not gonna risk my internship. hahahaha

Ystdy, i received a parcel from my dearest bffs in Sg! awwwww, so sweeeet of them to post me a Hello Kitty Holga camera for my bday preset. Thank you lovelies!!!! i love it so much!!!! :D

Ohyes, another random note, i think my house is an alcoholic family. we drink alcohol all the time, at meals, after meals, off days etc etc. but its not too bad. i like my family, though all of them are koreans. hahaha. but living together brings us closer to each other. and in times of crisis (WATER FLOODING), these incidents bond us together. I like the eating dinner part together, it makes me feel like we're really a family, like how in SG, i eat my meals w my family at the dinner table (:

so anyway, we had ara and sue visiting our house and drinking together, since they brought a carton of beer, chips, bbq chicken & lots more. my house has korean visitors all the time, hahaha.

its so boring that i have heaps of off days, and nothing to do on these days. another boring day today. looking forward to sunday! pauline dinggggg is coming to sydney again, and we're gonna have reunion dinner steamboat ourselves! since we cant be with our families for reunion dinner, we shall have it ourselves. heh heh!

So the journey of my twenty one birthday begins.....

it started on Sunday night, nearing midnight.. Tom suddenly came into the room and asked me to pick 3 cards out of 9. i cheated and forced him to open up all the cards and two of it were "cake cutting" and "neckalce???" Afterwards, he said nothing and walked out. At the strike of midnight, he asked me to go out to the living room. to my surprise, there stood a birthday cake!

the thought of "its just only a bday cake" might not surprise you, but to me, it meant something. Tom usually dont really celebrate his bday, so him preparing a surprise for me is a feat for him and something he doesn't do/hasn't done before. I rmb mentioning that i love surprises and oreo cheesecake, and this dear boy went to prepare a surprise for me and even hunted for oreo cheesecake! but too bad, there isn't any oreo cheesecake in sydney so he bought oreo chocolate cake instead, since i love both! ^^

After i had my cake cutting, i got a call from home in SG. my family bought my favourite cake at Four Leaves and presented to me over skype! They sang bday song for me and i blew out my candle virtually. hahaa how sweet of them! even 'sweeter' of them to eat my cake on behalf of me... o.O

And also, thank you all my lovely friends who've mailed me bday gifts and cards! so sorry i couldn't get a photo of them cus i ripped it apart and placed them in diff places in my apt. hahaha!

Next day, Tom brought me to Sydney Tower Restaurant for my birthday dinner. Some info about sydney tower, it is the tallest building in sydney (2nd tallest in Australia), it stands at 1,014ft tall and probably the only one that houses 2 revolving restaurants in this landmark.

Since our booking was at 8pm, we had lots of spare time, so we headed to our favourite hang out place; Starbucks.. hahaha!

Dinner time! It was 8pm and all stores were closed. There was a separate functioning lift outside of Westfield shopping centre that brought us into L4 of Westfield mall. There, we gave our names at the reception desk, paid and got a receipt. With that receipt, we gained access to the lift lobby. The lift is superfast! it brought us up all the way in approx 30secs and our ears were popping all the way.

Waited for our tables to be properly set up and we were brought to our window seat. its amazing how the city looks from high above. and this was taken at 8pm! sun setting was late that day. lucky us!

Camwhore time was done,time to dig in!!! The food was alright, not SUPER fascinating,but abv average i would say. i expected more out of this fabulous restaurant. but nonetheless, our tummies were satisfied after the entire dinner (since it was buffet style)

I love how our apartment is in the city, in that way we can walk to any of the nice spots around anytime. our favourite spot is sitting down at Darling Harbour, which is just around the block. After dinner ended, we headed there for a stroll and some relax time. its a nice place to chill out at. (:

Once you get cold after sitting at the harbour for long, just stand up, walk 5 min and violaaaa you're home. i love the city :D & so that marks the end of my bday celebration. Ohyes, i forgot to mention that i didn't forget about partying on m bday! i went to Home nightclub for my party night and spent a bomb there on shotssssss! but it was really fun and worth it.

My twenty first wasn't as fancy as i planned it to be.. Initially, i wanted to spend my 21st on a yacht or at a suite in MBS in, but unfortunately i had to come Aus and all my plans were ruined. Im glad i had great company for that night and though it wasn't fancy and classy, it was close to the heart, something much more worthy. Im glad i have who i have; family, loved ones, friends who still keep in contact with me. I'll come back to visit when i can!!!!

Sydney days

Hello everyone, sorry i took such a long break from updating my blog regularly. i hope i will have more time from now on to update my blog often. although i've moved in to my new apartment about a month back, i only got my internet a few days ago, which explains why we all had to survive on our iPhones only. haha.

anyway, life has been good so far. im currently working at InterContinental Sydney for my placement, staying in a lovely apartment in sydney CBD area called The Summit Apartments. (anyone who wants my address can contact me personally! :D ). am working hard at work, setting time aside to gym/swim at my apt's facilities, go out with tom and spend time doing nothing at home. haha. and for those who still dont know, i am recently attached. yes, i knw people will say things, but i was once told that i have to move on and let the present in. so here i am, with my korean bf hyeong seok choi (aka tom choi).

Here's a little about him....

He's from my school; Year 2
He's 20years old
He's going to go back korea for army after he finishes his studies, which is in feb 2013
He's really funny and makes me happy

Besides that, my family actually came to visit a few weeks back. they arrived on the 8th of dec, which was a really bad time cus my final exams were on the 9th of dec. thus, i couldn't spend lots of time with them. luckily, when i finished my exams, i still had 2 days left to spend with them in sydney. 2 days does seem to be short, but when i was with my family, time felt like it had stopped at the moment. being away from home made me realize the importance of family ties and it made me want to treasure my family more. i miss them so much at times but i have to be here for my studies and future. i am so used to being the princess in the family, mom and dad bought everything for me, cared for my every need. after coming here, i learnt to do everything on my own, from getting an apartment to fixing up the modem and even cooking for my family (housemates) here. my mom told me that my dad was really upset when he heard that i had to care for everything myself; my housing rent, my work, my meals, my transportation etc and i had no family here for me. but its alright, i guess its part of learning to be independent. i even stopped taking allowance from my family for this 6 months cus i thought that since im working for my internship, i should be using my own money. it felt like i was planning for my future. earning your own salary, paying for house rent, utilities bills, groceries, entertainment expenses. everything felt real. im kinda glad that my parents sent me here to study, to be alone and independent. though i miss my friends and family members back in sg, i think staying here is a good idea. i might consider getting PR over here if im able to.

when my family left, i waved goodbye to them from the airport shuttle bus area and my parents cried. i hate goodbyes, its so heart wrenching. i dont know when will be the next time when i'll meet them again, probably after i graduate... but i know they are always right beside me (:

moving on, its the 8th of jan today, which means its ONE DAY FROM MY 21ST BDAY!!!! this year's bday is gonna be so much different from the other years. especially my 21st, i was planning for sth special in sg, but i was flown here, so bye bye to bday in sg. im not expecting much for my bday cus my friends are not in sydney. just maybe a nice dinner? haha anyway, i just got my first bday gift from felix!

today is the last day i'll be staying on campus. starting tomorrow, i'll no longer be in Blue Mountains.actually im starting placement only on the 19th, but i'll be meeting my family tml after my marketing exams. I'll send them off on wednesday aftenoon, and probably meet Pris who's gonna fly in on wed afternoon after her flight attendant shift ends. After wednesday ends, i'll move to shin's house temporarily for 3 weeks until she comes back from Korea. so within this 3 weeks, we have to find an apartment or we'll be homeless! hahaa. so thats the plan for now, and it means that its my last day here at the mountains. and i probably wont be able to meet the those (whom i know of) who're flying off.

Sorry i wont be able to send you off when u leave aus... im glad we met during the first day of orientation, when we were all stuck at YHA due to the storm. we became close friends (tgt with yimin) and hanged out together all the time. well, until the time came where all our timetables clashed and you went off to other classes. i will miss camwhoring with you at random moments. I hope you enjoyed your 6 months summer exchange here at Aus. though it was a short 6 months, we forged a life long bond. Its the first weekend of December! time for some updates!

I attended the Degustation Dinner last thursday. its like a 7 course tasting meal, matched with 7 different wines for each course. it was an enjoyable event that i finally got to attend! last term, i was still in practical and i was working for this event while watching other people don on their best dress and suit, and turn up for the event. this year, thou art not jealous anymore. This year, the theme was Around The World, meaning u're supposed to dress according to your country colour, and the meals will be according to the different countries. enjoy the photos! :)

so the week passed and we all had our presentations. boy was it a tough week, having different group meetings for different days. but all's good. managed to secure HighDistinction (HD) for my Business Communication , Distinction (D) for Management & Leadership and D for Marketing presentations! niceeeee, like the Ds and HDs. now, im left with my final exams and off i go to placement! so egggcited!

right, so the past thursday that i had, was another event of the school. it wasn't exactly for me to attend, it was Key Ceremony, its for graduates to receive their key from the school as a gift to signify they've graduated. i think.lol. anw the whole school was invited to attend the event, and eat nice seafood. Today, its a Saturday! went down to sydney city for apartment inspection. sighhh, both apartments didn't appeal to us at all. howwwwww! 1 week plus more to go before we have to leave school campus... anw, i started packing my luggage already, cus im gonna meet my parents right after i end my exams on monday(12/12), and i'll only be back at BM on the 14th. but school residence closes on the 14th, thus i have to move out early... which is before i meet my family on monday.

so we spent an hour packing my wardrobe and everything into the luggage and boxes. gonna shift them to Kyu's (guy in bottom left in grey hoodie) house tomorrow.

FUCKING SCAMMER

I ALMOST FUCKING GOT CHEATED OF $1280!!!!!!!!!

here's the story... i was looking for an apartment to rent, and i found this really cheap and nice looking apartment at Phillip street, which is beside Circular Quay, 3 mins away from InterContinental Sydney. so its in CBD area, and the rent was $640/month, which is FUCKING CHEAP. cus standard rent is around $800-1k/WEEK.

so i contacted the owner and he sent me a message back on the web and asked for my email so he can contact me via personal email.

so i continued asking him about the apartment in the following few messages and he replied accordingly...

the process was that since he's living in UK, he will initiate DHL to ship the apartment keys and contract to me. but, i will have to transfer $1280 to DHL account first. after which, wthin 3 days, i will get the keys and contract. then i will have 10 days of inspection. after which, i will indicate if i want or dont want the apartment. if i want, i will sign an agreement that allows DHL to transfer my funds to owner. if i dont want, i can return DHL the keys and they will return me the contract.

seems safe right? cus its by DHL, an international shipping company.

so after all these, i received an email from DHL saying i need to pay the money to them, then they will ship the keys and contract to me within 3 days.

HOWEVER, the email of DHL seemed dubious,cause why will DHL email be

dhl.confirm@live.com ??? shouldn't it be like dhl.com.au or sth like that?

so i called my bro,actually to ask him to transfer money to me so i can pay, but i also told him about the situation and about my concerns. so he said to go check on dhl first and he'll do his checks as well..

SO, I MADE THE MOTHERFUCKING LIFE SAVING CALL TO DHL.

the lady said that dhl's email are all someone's name and dhl (e.g. katy.dhl@ bla blah) and definitely NOT dhl.confirm@live.com
they did not have such services as holding money for customer then shipping keys and contracts over
they do not have such a dept called Safety & Trust Inc
there's no tracking records of my transaction number (as seen at the subject of the email)

its the weekend once again! & usually im very welcoming my weekends to come, but not these few weeks :( have been bombarded with HEAPS AND HEAPS of work and projects to do! never felt so hardworking and stressed in my life before. :/

so i had like an ENTIRE DAY of marketing project, and i even skipped dinner to do up my management& leadership ppt slides. tomorrow, im going to do my reflective journal for business communication and have management&leadership project meeting.

i feel that my eyes are popping out and my brains are thumping real bad from all the staring at the computer the whole day...... this is badddddddd.

last week, during our business communication class, our tcher got us to google our name and see what comes up on the web and images. so i tried googling my name, GOSH!!! 90% of the links on the first page is about my websites (e.g. facebook, twitter, blog etc). and the images came up my photos! like from new to old, to even ex bfs photos! and our tcher asked what was the result,and i had like the most counts for results of myself on google.

the weekend is just about to end, and here comes week 8! the week of torture, late nights, doing projects as the following week is submission week for all assignments.

im gonna turn into a panda temporarily! anyway, besides doing project, i went to work recently at Mt Victoria for a wedding banquet. it was a lovely small traditional wedding with the amazing scenery as the backdrop. tom, kenny, jack and myself worked for this event, and it was fun working tgt! we nicked so much food at back of house while working, so much till we were quite full when it was dinner time. haha! here's some photos:

anywayyyyyy, im really happy over this weekend cus i finally got to meet up with pauline dinggggg! she had flights to sydney twice before but i didn't had the chance to meet her cus of school. finally, on thursday, i only had 1 class, which was business communication exams. rushed down to sydney right aft my exams.

we haven't met ever since we graduated from poly last year. she passed interviews and is working now as a flight attendant with Singapore Airlines, thats why we couldn't meet up before i left for australia cus she was busy with trainings and all. but now, life's good for her! so happy for her(: (:

after putting our stuff down in the hotel, we went for dinner at Madang! its a korean restaurant, but the queue was always sooooo damn long. luckily it wasn't that long so we ate there. food was supposed to be nicer, but i think it isn't THAT fantastic as the other ones i've been to. anyway we girls just talked and let the noble guy do the job of cooking. but he sucks, the 2nd batch of bbq was burnt. TSKKK! hahahaha.

after dinner, we walked to this korean restaurant called Milliore for drinks. tom called yeol and he said this restaurant has the cheapest soju and beer. it costs $7 for soju and $5 for beer, thats really cheap!! compared to $15 at the other restaurants. anw tom taught us how to make this drink. 1 shot of coke, 1 shot of soju, placed into a glass, then topped up w beer. he said that this is the drink that guys will get for girls in korea club to make them drunk. HAHAHA! so we played drinking games and drank 4 bottles of soju, 4 beer, and 4 coke. i think....

we woke up at like 6? showered and all, tom and i left at 645 and went to train station to catch train back to school, while pauline packed up and change into her air stewardess uniform to fly back SG. awwww, i miss the bitch alreadyyyyyyy.

when we arrived back to sch, quiz was about to start. luckily i still could take the quiz tho i was late. heh. came back to the room aft quiz and slept all the way from 10-3pm. did some project work, had dinner at 530, and project meeting at 7pm. there's so many things to be done! its coming week8 now, and all the projects, assignments are due in week 9/10. so everyone's rushing and all, since we have 4/5 subjects. haha.

oh yeaaaaaa, im working tomorrow! yes! :>

I JUST GOT ACCEPTED INTO INTERCONTINENTAL SYDNEY FOR MY PLACEMENT JOB!!!!!

im going to start with rooms service first, then when im ready, i'll go into the restaurant. so damn happy i got InterContinental :D im going to start placement in dec, probably mid dec (around 20th), and ending in june. then coming back to the school to start my 2nd year in July 2012.

TIME FLIES!!!!! soon, i'll be working 24/7 and in a blink of an eye, i will be a 2nd year student :>

just had wine club class! every monday, we will hav the wine club class, whereby we get to taste 5-6 different kinds of wine, learn about them and food pairing with it. every time after wine class, you'll see students with red faces emerging out of the 'classroom'. hahaha!

though my face is red, im still trying to print my slides and study for exams tomorrow.

today, the school brought us down to sydney for a career expo. its an expo where all the top hotels will set up booths and try to recruit students to work w them aft graduation or for placement. i only handed my resume to Shangri-la, cus im not quite interested in any other hotels, considering the fact that im counting on my interview with InterContinental.... hopefully the results come soon! *fingers crossed* & there were lots of hotel school students at the expo as well, but well, they turn out to be quite a disappointment. not dressed in proper uniform, not friendly etc. its so true that our lecturers told us that our school is the best and everyone will be looking out for us. hurhur. im glad i chose the right school (i hope! haha)

omggggzzzz, there's like a shitload of homework/assignments/projects/quizzes/tests/exams and i keep losing track of whats there to do. im getting stressed up as final exams draw nearer..... 7 more weeks. i need to score better results this term! Distinctions pleaseeeeeee!

there was school party on friday, the first school party of the 4th term. theme was uniform, but obviously majority of us didn't turn up in uniforms, we just wore normal clothes. haha.

anywayyyyy, i went sydney the next day for SASHIMIIIIIIII with choi hyeong seok (aka tom choi). we've been craving for sashimi for a longgggggg longgggggg time and its time to satisfy our craving. hahaha. so here we gooooooo!

ohyes, beware of the seagulls at fish market, they attack your food. we had like 3 pieces of sashimi left, and it was for me. while we were taking photos, a group of seagulls swooped past us and flew away. 5 mins later, i saw the sashimi missing! HAHA! the seagulls were so cunning! they flew down and stealthily grabbed the sashimi away. haha gosh, they are smart!

then we caught Johnny English Reborn. IT WAS SO FUCKING FUNNY!!!! i absolutely adore Rowan Atkinson! he's so damn smart yet he looks so dumb. plus his daughter is a total hottie. ^^

aft dinner, we had dinner at korean restaurant, cus it was the only place that's still open aft the 5pm closing hours in sydney.

omggggzzzz, soju is like pure alcohol, sth like vodka, but a little nicer tasting than vodka. hahaha! but it was nice, tasting soju finalllllyyyy! :>

so, i had my placement meeting w the career development tchers on wednesday, and i chose to go InterContinental Sydney for my upcoming placement. and today, i got a call from the HR dept and had a phone interview with them. at the end of it, they said they were interested in having me come down sydney tml for a face to face interview! AHHHHH IM SO DAMN NERVOUS!!!!!! i hope i get in.... Ms Howe told me that there were previous students who went there and didn't do a good job & the hotel didnt want students from our sch to go. but now they've opened up the vacancies to our students again, and im the first few batches to go there now. soooo scarrrryyy. so tomorrow, 4pm, InterContinental. i'll be going down after i finish class. wish me luck! :D

and another thing is that, i finally managed to establish contact with the General Manager of the hotel school sydney to have an interview with her. its for our assignment, whereby we hav to interview a manager in the hospitality and tourism scene. the funniest part is that her office is in INTERCONTINENTAL!!! lol! im going there tml for my placement interview, and again on sunday for my project interview. haha how funny! im so fated to go intercontinental. hahahhaa.

oh oh oh, and and and, i've been selected to model for the fashion parade for the Melbourne Cup luncheon on 1st Nov! OMGOMGOMG, so eggggciteddddd! im gonna try to establish my modelling career a little over here. i feel so sad having to leave my modelling career in sg, so i felt that i should establish sth here so i dont feel so sad and lonely. heh heh. here's the first step! :D

Ah! a fresh new term! classes have been real boringgggg, except for marketing and accounting. marketing's really interesting, partially bcos my lecturer is from SINGAPORE! and he's the asst dean of th school. heh heh. and accounting, you cant afford to lose concentration or do other stuff, if not you will miss out hell lots.

hello! sorry for abandoning this blog for a very long time.. im always forgetting to blog. but anw, its TERM BREAK now! i had 2 weeks of term break, from 19sept-3rd oct. i went to goldcoast from 19sept-24sept, and im spending the remaining of my term break bumming around. hahaa. life's good! no work, no school, just pure bumming, drinking, partying, sleeping in etc.

but school's about to start soon, 2 more days to go..... & i'll be a theory student! aft 3 more months, i'll be going off for my 1st placement. hmm, i havent really made up my mind where i wanna go for placement.

besides that, my school has 82 new students! wow! the dorms are all fully occupied and theres new faces running around everywhere. haha. this new term, i'll be dressed in my business suit every single day, no more chef uniform or front of house waiters uniform. hahahaha. ahhhh feels so different!

term break has been eyeopening, an awesome time. and now, its time to start recollecting myself and get ready to focus on 4 new subjects for the next 3 months; accounting, marketing, management&leadership, business com&technology. wish me luck guys! im sooooo not used to studying so many subjects in such a short period of time. im gonna get smashed!

i miss my family like crazy!!!!!

but im really glad that they're coming over this dec. Mum just told me over the phone that they've booked tickets to come over on 3rd dec, and they're staying in aus for 12days, and stopover sydney for a few days.

Im going to bring them to Chambers to eat. :D and bring them around the city and spend lots of time with them when they're here.

now, i truly realise how much i miss them. and treasure them....

and to granny,

please get well soon, you said you'll see me graduate.

granny was recently hospitalized cus of inflammation of her large intestine, and she almost lost her life. thankfully, she's fine for now, but she's still having inflammation. & she's really upset that she doesn't have her large intestine now, doc operated it away or else it would be life threatening.

i pray that granny has a speedy recovery and can return home soon. its going to be her birthday in a few weeks time, and i really hope she can stay healthy and happy.

i dont want to lose another granny, like how i lost my other granny last month.

Day 1 of Front of House; it isn't THAT bad.... but luckily i was doing barista. i made my first coffee! so damn happy. hahaa! Mr Frawley said i dd well, and the milk froth was good! despite me being first timer at coffee making. heh!

but im so not looking forward to tomorrow and so on, cus im rostered at chambers! plate carrying was A TOTAL BITCH! my fingers cramped up pretty much everytime i carried 3 plates. gosh, i wonder how they train their fingers to be so tough to carry 3 plates on a single hand. i reckon they lift weights with their pinkies. hurhur. kinda nervous for chambers service, its so damn scary! and i keep forgetting where to put the plates, cutlery, etc. but im totally looking forward to bar shift on thurs. cause i get to make my own cocktail and mocktail! and coincidentally, its degustation night that day, and i get to match wine with the 7 course meal. oh yeahhh! :D
but it was tiring still. when the orders of coffee and tea came in one after another, i was like in a panic mode, but luckily i had Mr Frawley with me to help. heh! i made so many diff types of coffee today! like 12 diff types? hahaha. coooool. but i haven't mastered the art of pouring the patterns on the top. gonna master it one day before the barista exams comes.

shall go hunt for patsy and get gossip girl from her and start watching. then maybe i'll stick my head into my assignment pile and do it. we shall see.

HOLAAAA EVERYONE!

time for some updates in my school life.

As you guys know, i went skydiving last weekend, and it was the best experience i ever had! I was in the plane with yimin, patsy and a group of skydiving team. As we were going to freefall first before parachuting down, we had to go ABOVE the parachute level so as to do 1 min of free fall. hahhaa! so that was like higher than the NDP Lions who parachute down all the time. lol! the skydiving team went down first and i was like OMFG, HELL NO! and my instructor behind me just kinda pushed me towards the door. we were supposed to place our knees in a 90 degree position and fall forward, but the wind was so strong (220km/h!!!!) that my legs kept flying left side. HAHA! it was hilarious, and i kept saying omfg no no no no, cus i saw how the wind brought the skydiving team far away... and so my instructor kinda pushed me down and WOOOHOOO I WAS FREE FALLING!!! it was sooooo good! but my ears felt bad afterwards. i was kinda deaf man! hahahah! & my instructor let me pioneer my parachute. wooooo, it was so fun! it was definitely one of my best times ever! :D im sure u guys have seen the photos on fb, here's the video if you guys haven't seen it. please dont LOL, its kinda embarrassing. HAHA! but anw, have a good laugh.

Last Thursday, i had my Sous Chef exams! its like being the head chef for the day and delegating tasks to preparing the lunch meal and making sure the buffet line runs smoothly. it was quite intimidating and i was super nervous about it. heh. but Chef Mum said i did well for my exams. hehehehehe!

that very same day, in the evening, Usman was Sous Chef for the later part of the day. all was well until evening time when i broke down in the kitchen. i was too pissed that i cried. but ohwells, everythings over already, and all's good.

and, i lost someone dear to me that very same day as well. I called home to find out that my Granny passed away. I was in shock, cus no one told me immediately. I guess they didn't want to disturb me. I still remember i visited my granny at her place 1 week before i flew off to aus. she gave me red packet and asked me to study hard, and visit her when im back 3 years later. On the day when i was going to fly off, she got admitted into ICU and i went down to visit her at the hospital. She couldn't speak much as she had an oxygen mask on her. When i went in with my mum, i was so sad. she held my hands tightly and my mum told her im here to see her before i fly off. she tried to say something to me, but i could only hear muffled voice. But i could tell she wanted me to hav the best out of what i can, and of course to study hard and not worry about her. The nurse told us that she should be recovering well and might be able to come off the oxygen mask soon. I left soon cus i had to pack everything. I told myself that i will visit her when im back in SG.

but sadly, she left us last week....

it was really tormenting for me, having to deal with kitchen stuff, and passing of my granny. i cried until my eyes sore, and it was still sore the next day. i dont deal with goodbyes well, but i tried to mask it in the kitchen cus i dont want ppl to know (well, except yimin). and now, granny's on my wallpaper. its a relief i still have her photo inside my com.

Next day, it was a brand new day. It was the last day of kitchen. 12 August. coincidentally, my last day of kitchen was also my very first day in bakery. how sad! Chef Muzz taught me how to make macaroons. technically, i taught him how to cus i read from the book but he guided me along and gave me tips and all.then he left at 12pm, cus fridays are his half days. so for the rest of the day, i was left alone in the bakery to do whatever i want. I tested the macaroons, brought it out during lunch time for the students to try. Minutes later, Front of house staff brought the empty plate back and asked me if i had more cus everyone wanted more! im like OMG I DIDN'T MAKE SO MANY, IT WASN'T INTENDED FOR THEM.

hahaaaaa but i was so happy! my first time making them, and everyone loved it :) so i sacrificed my break hour and stayed in kitchen w yimin to make more macaroons. hehe! and we cam-whored inside bakery. hahahaha!

hoho! my loots from Forever21 online shopping just arrived. which explains the mess...

I didn't do much this weekend. stayed in school, finished up my assignments, and found time to go out for a joyride. hahaha!
tomorrow is the start of 5 weeks at Front of House. oh mannnnzzzzzz. all the kitchen students are dreading to go out to front of house, and the front of house students cant wait to come in. noooo. in front of house, yr roster can be either Barista, Chambers, Ploughman's (breakfast/dinner shift), Bar, or Maitre 'd.

Barista means that you'll be in the cafe, learning how to make coffee
Chambers is the fine-dining restaurant on campus, so u'll be doing serving at the fine-dining restaurant
Ploughman's is the buffet style restaurant in the sch, so u'll be doing simple cleaning up of dishes aft students are done with eating. its more relaxed than Chambers
Bar means bar, where u learn how to make cocktails/mocktails/ match wine with food and get them served etc. yes we can order alcohol if we're eating in chambers. hahaa.
Maitre 'd is the scary one. its like Sous Chef thing. it means u're in charge of the whole Chambers service for the day. its quite complicated. from finding out the menu of the day, to making sure everything runs smoothly.

Im doing Barista tml, Chambers on wed, Bar on thurs, fri off, sat brunch shift at ploughman's, sun off! anddddddd, sunday is PAINTBALL DAY! our school organized paintball activity for the students and im going to play! oh yeahhh! hopefully i dont get lots of bruises when i return back from the game. i vividly rmb when i played paintball in sg, i returned home with a humungous ball dent bruise on my side stomach cus the pellet hit me straight there. hohoho, boy was it painful! nonetheless, im still looking forward to playing paintball war this sunday! cant wait!

you know how everyone's talking about Harry Potter, and i was so upset cus i couldn't catch it before i came to sydney... BUT! there's this Edge cinema here at Katoomba with a hugeass screen (6storey high)! muahahaha! so the group of us headed down to catch Harry Potter on a monday night after our classes ended.

it was a significant night, as it was the FIRST SCHOOL PARTY OF THE TERM! yay! all of us headed down to the Leura Golf Course for the party, and the theme was Corporate Hoes and CEOS. though there were quite some who were spontaneous to dress in sexy corporate, we didn't have the guts to do so. LOL! so we turned up in CEO attire. hahaha! here's photos of the party.

Next morning, we woke up in a rush and booked our hostel in Sydney, and dragged our luggage to the train station. 2hrs later, VIOLAAAA, we're in sydney! went to meet diana who flew in from SG! wooohoooo, i missed her so much man! when she came to sydney, it reminded me so much of our taiwan trip earlier this year.

after dinner, kee brought us to chinatown for this awesome bakery treat. the egg tarts were awesomeeeeeee!

all of us headed back to our individual hostels to wash up and prepare for our clubbing night. hahaha!

omggggggggggg the whole crowd went crazyyyyy! Jason Derulo just ended his world tour concert and i think he decided to show up here at the club for fun. hahaha! he performed 1 song; Dont wanna go home, and Havana Brown spinned the song for him. omggggzxzxzx, mega awesome night!!!!!

today's a saturday, but i have kitchen duty :( unfortunately, im sickkkkkk, so i didn't go for kitchen. which resulted in 8 make up hours. zzzzzz, shall pay back the 8 make up hrs tml in kitchen. damn, working on sunday. how sad is the life of a practical student now. and i gotta study for test next wed and do my assignments. sighhh. kay bye for now! i shall be a hardworking girl, though im sick. haha.

okay now i sound like some creepy stalker... but im actually not. i just think he looks sooooo hot in the movie! hurhur! anw, i just watched 3 movies at the games room non stop, one of which was Tron, which explains my current infatuation with Garrett Hedlund! hahahaha.

Today was a boring day, but made funfilling by yimin and myself. haha! we had Responsible Service of Alcohol (RSA) class from 9-3pm, then right aft the course ended, we had an exam on the spot. phew, lucky i took down notes and listened in class, scored 49/50, the mistake was the stupid trick qns! arghhh. but anw it was an interesting course, teaching us lots of stuff abt dealing w alcohol, serving alcohol and the laws abiding it.

After class, yimin and i decided to head to the gym and do some workouts cus we've been pigging EVERY SINGLE DAY. the food here is awesome, which makes us eat like a mountain full of food. and during the night, we have snacks in our room cus we just cant stop being hungry. haha, so yeah, i lifted some weights, did mostly core exercises and i ran on the treadmill for 20 odd mins. i got so tired easily! i reckon its the cold weather cus ym was feeling the same too.

After gym, we played some piano at cookie's cafe w kenny playing the violin. its been AGES since i last touched the piano mannnnnn. time to brush my skills up. then dinner time, and movie all the way till now. haha. we've got no classes tomorrow, and no practical shift as well! OH YEAH, so we're gna go explore leura w the rest of our batch mates tml. :D

HI GUYS, in case you dont know, im already in Sydney! and im living at Blue Mountains now, on my sch campus.

finally they came, and picked us up in the car. then the lady sent us to Central station and we took a train up to blue mountains ourselves..

when we board the train, everyone was looking at us, cus we had tons of luggage to carry down to our seats. haha!

we fell asleep on the train as it was a 1.5hrs train journey. damn long! finally reached Katoomba, Chris the campus service coordinator fetched us from the train station and brought us down to our sch campus at Leura. but we weren't going to spend the night there cus there was a storm the previous night and a tree fell on the power cables, causing a power failure in most Leura area. so we went to the sch to put our big luggage down and brought along our handcarry ones to Katoomba's backpack hostel to spend the night.

then we went out for a short walk to explore around..

BUT THE WEATHER WAS SO COLLLLDDDD, that we couldn't stand it and came back to stack on more clothes. hahahaa. and the SRC (student representative council) organised a rugby watching night out at the movie screening pub, so all of us were forced to support NSW, cus we're in NSW land now. lol. thus that explains the blue streaks on our cheeks. haha! in the end queensland won. haha. but it was fun :D

Next day, the campus director came down to YHA to greet us, and fill us in about the current situation. turns out we could actually return back to campus in the late evening. so we spent the day having small talks by our lecturers and opening bank accounts. and also exploring more of katoomba.

in the evening, we went to put our luggages in the car and got ferried over to our sch. finalllyyy, we're in the sch campus! explored around and went to the diff rooms of our batch mates. Year 1s are housed in Winsland Twin, the older building. Year 2s are house at idk what, but its bigger and better furniture. haha. and Year 3s have the nicest rooms i guess...

things aren't so bad here, though its a stressful environment. so let me tell u a little more about life here....

we have all our meals on campus, cus we've got 2 restaurants here, operated by students in year 1 practical & chefs. we dont have to make our rooms cus we have housekeeping once a week to clean our rooms for us, and thats the year2 practical students and the housekeeping dept doing it. there's pretty much nth to do at Leura, the place where my school is at. its a quiet peaceful place, nearest town which has more things would be Katoomba. there's a local pub there which students go on every thursday. but the music there isn't much of my taste; its like techno trance and all. so yeaaaaa.

and for studies wise, im doing my practical now and i started with kitchen. but besides going for kitchen work, i have other classes to attend as well, so its kinda tiring for all of us..

so this term my subjects are; CALS, F&B1, F&B2, IP101 and Cross Cultural issues in Tourism & Hospitality. F&B1 is the practical component which takes up the bulk of our time. we have rosters for the practical. Monday is our tutorial class, so no practical for monday, but TUESDAY-SUNDAY, we have practical. yes, even the weekends. so u pray that u get good schedule for the week. working hours are like 520am-330pm, or 8am-8pm, and thats breakfast&lunch shift, or lunch&dinner shift. usually in between 2-4pm we have breaks, BUT, we have other subjects as well, so that 2hrs break is actually our tutorial time. the school really plans our timetable well, really MAX it all out. so everyday aft we end work for the day, we retreat back to our room and plunge straight in the bed. haha.

kitchen is for 5 weeks, followed by fine-dining serving for 4 weeks, and cafe serving for 4 weeks. and then exams time; both practical and theory. shag right! sighhhhh, so much to do/learn/work for everyday. but its okay, we have lots of fun in the kitchen, and i learnt how to cook/cut/prepare dishes for the student's meals.

so over the past few days, i mean the week, we had our O Week! yay, and we survived. we actually travelled down to sydney on one weekend and explored around. FYI, blue mountains to sydney is a bloody 1.5hrs train ride. enjoy the minimal photos. hur!

just recently, like on monday, i bought my kitchen boots! hahaa! i couldn't get the normal sized ones cus they're too big, so i got the kids size one and they fit perfectly fine! but bad thing is that they cut at the top sides. sucks. but its all good, i'll just be using them for another 4 more weeks and bye bye.

My family day once again on the sunday of every week. mom and i went to the optics, and got me a new pair of specs! lol, i officially have 5 pairs of specs at home now. and i also ordered my year supply of contact lens to bring over to aussie. mom found out that she had farsightedness, which she never knew before. hahaha! i kept laughing at her.. so in the end, she had a make a pair of specs with special lens that has the 老花 lens at th bottom. and that lens costs $500!!! madness. okay, afterwards, went to Hush Puppies and bought my black heels for hotel school. it better be acceptable, it costs me $130!

then, dad came to fetch us and we went to visit my granny. mom says i gotta say bye bye to her since im leaving sg already. haha.

happenings happenings!

It was the Roxy Shorts Competition- preliminary round at Wavehouse! all 20 girls met for the first time at wavehouse in the evening and we were rushed off into introductions, rehearsals and preparations. went through a few rounds of walking up and down the 'stage', and prepared for our showcase.

we were all required to walk up the stage and pose at 5 strategic spots, then answer a qns, sth like why do u think u should be in the top 10.

then, the judges made their call, and after some discussion, we were all called on stage for the final verdict.

only 10 girls were called forth to proceed to the next round. and i was so damn super shocked to hear my number being called first. and so slowly, the 10 girls emerged. preliminary round ended. but we weren't allowed to leave yet! we were rushed off upstairs to have our clothes fitting. spent a good 2hrs upstairs w/o our phones, fitting into bikinis and fashion wear for the next day's finals showcase.

we had our first showcase at 2pm on saturday, whereby we catwalked up the stage, did 5 poses, emcee introduced us all one by one, and went back down. then flowjam started! and we were ushered off to do our hair and make up. and at 4plus in the afternoon, we started the mad serious of events. first was roxy bikini fashion show, then followed by roxy fashion outfit show, then a final showcase, and lastly the Q&A segment.

Howdieeeee everyone! sorry for being away for quite some time. been busy working as usual, and when i come home its usually late at night so i hardly use the computer. but, good news! im quitting all my jobs by the end of this week. So therefore, this week will be my last week working. and i'll be spending the remaining 5 weeks to meet up with all my friends, do whatever i want to and get ready to pack my luggage and everything else.

so in case u guys still dont know, which SOME of my friends are clueless about, im going overseas to study. therefore im flying off on the 5th of july, going to sydney, blue mountains to study hotel management for 2.5years. here's more about my school and uni life for you guys..

1st year- study on blue mounatains campus for 1 sem, internship at another australia state/another country for 1 sem

2nd year- study on BM campus for 1 sem, intern at another area for 1 sem

3rd year- study at Sydney campus for 1 sem and graduate.

Sydney is a new campus that the school is building and it focuses on the final year students on managerial prospects. the new campus will only be ready in Jan 2012. so i'll be the lucky batch to start my final year there. here's a video of the blue mountains campus and the new sydney campus coming up.... :)

Why did i choose to go BMIHMS instead of monash, UQ, SIT etc etc?

welllll, that's bcos i feel that BMIHMS is a good school, plus it is the sister school of the top uni in switzerland, Les Roches. therefore, in BMIHMS, they teach in swiss hospitality style, which is slightly different from the other schools in aussie. On top of that, BMIHMS is a recognized school and it has a good studying environment. Its located at Leura, which is 2hrs train ride from Sydney. its a very quiet, peaceful, relaxing place.

saw this report article on employers employing BMIHMS students as compared to the other hospitality universitites. well, i guess BMIHMS is good then :)

AND THE FEES ARE BLOODY EXPENSIVE. hahahahaa. yessss, i've asked about other schools like UQ, monash, their sch fees for the same duration as mine costs twice LESS. so yeah i better make sure i study well so i dont waste my parent's money.

anyway, im having mixed feelings about starting school. i am excited to start, but i dont know what to expect. plus, im sad bcos i have to leave everything i have in sg behind. i hate parting, its the worst part of anything. its that tingling sad feeling of departing, yet anticipating a whole new environment. sighhh, i hope everything goes well and smooth, and i'll still be in contact with all my loved ones.

and and, i'll really appreciate it if u guys can turn up TML (friday) for the preliminary round of the competition at Wavehouse, 630pm onwards! only 10 finalists will be chosen to go into the the finals, which will be held at Wavehouse, Saturday, 12pm onwards, in conjunction with FlowJam!
